The port of Thessaloniki, the natural gate of the Balkans to the sea, is rapidly being developed to accommodate international cruise liners and local ferries as an outlet to the islands of the Aegean. The new passenger station "Macedonia" was recently established to serve this new development.

free zone operating under the customs code of the European Union
container terminal, operating 24 hours with flat rates
conventional port operating in two shifts, with flat rates
top quality equiρment for handling bulk and heavy cargos
cargo security
excellent links to road and rail networks
competitive rates for goods in transit

The "Makedonia" Passenger Terminal

The Terminal operates since 1987 in the ground floor of a neo-classic building at the entrance of the port and serves passenger ships and flying dolphins with several destinations from Skiathos to Crete. You can query our on-line itinerary database about all scheduled routes.
For cruising ships there is a special part of the pier and an appropriate part of the terminal meets the standards of the Schengen treaty.
The facilities for the passengers include: waiting rooms, cafeterias, card-phones, trolleys for the transportation of luggage, taxi station, parking areas for private cars and tourist buses, speakers for the announcement of departures and arrivals, kiosks offering special services and information from tourist agencies.
Inside the Passenger Terminal you will also find a touch-screen Infokiosk (Infopoint) with Internet access and a Wi-Fi Access Point allowing Internet access to any device equipped with a 802.11b compliant netword card. Both services are provided completely free of charge for all passengers.

Parking Services & Facilities
Short term/stay
The Port Authority of Thessaloniki S.A., in the strategic frame of land utilisation and development, created in the centre of our city an open-air parking facility with 250 car capacity. The operation of this parking next to the Port's Passenger Station and close to the commercial center of the city is expected to relieve the traffic problem of the center area.
The parking started its operation in the beginning of October 2002, serving the accute parking needs of the centre of Thessaloniki. ThPA S.A. adopted a particular competitive billing policy at one Euro (€1) per hour, with no minimum charge.
The entrance of the parking is found at the Axiou street, 50 metres after the Central Gate (map of area). This choice aims in avoiding the creation of traffic congestion at the Port's Central Gate, Niki's Avenue and in providing better access to the users of the facility.
